Team Penning Fall Classic Results

Another successful Fall Classic was held on October 28^th and 29^th in Brandon at the Keystone Centre in conjunction with the Manitoba Rodeo Finals. 

This event included 2 classes, a #8 and Open Class.   The first round of penning was held on Saturday at noon, with the second go on Saturday afternoon.  The top 5 qualifiers in each class competed on Saturday evening during the MRF classes and it was one exciting show!  The cattle were as excited to be there as the competitors and spectators!  Here are the results:

2^nd Place – Janie Galloway, Brian Ross, Jake Steeves

3^rd Place – Casey Brown, Ray Lesage, Miles Vass

Fall Classic Working Committee and Volunteers

§         Ken Dalgliesh (Fall Classic Committee Head Honcho) - who put in many hours of work and phone calls to make this event happen. – thanks Ken for being our “mover and shaker”!!

§         Wayne Klassen * Rick Andrews * John Naylen * Neil Whelpton * Ron LeMay* - the Great Committee who worked with Ken to pull this weekend off without a hitch

§         Laurie Kohinljk (Show Secretary/Treasurer) - who pulled all the teams and numbers together and organized all the paperwork for the show

§         Lawrence Ruddick (Arena Director) – who ensured the event happened in conjunction with the rodeo events

§         Randy Muyres  (Judge) – who again made the trek to Brandon to judge our penners

§         Launa Thiessen, Ruth Batchelor, Chris Dunning, Gary Joynt – who were all Timers, Cattle Handlers, Gate People, etc.

§         Calvin Jarvis, Grant Duncalfe, Brendan Fiske (Herd Holders) – who kept the herds together for the penners

ALSO ACKNOWLEDGING….

A big thanks to the MFR Committee who worked with the team penning committee over the Friday/Saturday… helping with the forklift, setting up and taking down the pens 3 times and ALSO chasing, roping and returning that darn stray cow that was touring Brandon!!!  Your help was greatly appreciated!!

AND WHERE DID THOSE TRICKY COWS COME FROM?

Cattle for this year’s Fall Classic were provided by Naylen Land and Cattle Company (Betty and John Naylen, Greg and Nancy Naylen).  And don’t believe the rumours, they did not whisper in their ears before the shoot out (“roses are red, violets are blue, cattle that misbehave will be made into glue”..).

P.S.  We need to take up a collection fund to cover the speeding ticket of one determined person who managed to get the corner pads for the pen to the Keystone on time!!!   Now who would that be?
